This is a Christian-based nonprofit trans-denominational unity concert and competitive platform designed to empower young Christians by helping showcase their talents. It is intended to impact the lives of young gospel artists using performance training, platforms for expression, and mentoring.
This edition is the first is expected to impact the lives of a thousand (1000) young people and by extension, millions of lives. With this projected number we would have secured a viable movement of young people who through the discovery of self that Performing Arts offers, are earning a living and secure in themselves. They would also embody the right values, which will, in turn, have a ripple effect on our communities, thereby fostering the geometric growth of value-driven youth ambassadors in Nigeria. This initiative seeks to identify raw talents in the church; we intend to start by empowering young gospel singers across the denominational divides in the five (5) indigenous districts of Tarok Nation, extending to southern Plateau and the end of the world as our Blessed Lord Jesus Christ permits.
Being a capacity-building initiative, aimed at addressing challenges (of lack of coherent mentorship, training, and/or sponsorship), by grooming performance inclined youths from low-income backgrounds on basic concepts that will help them convert their talent to income, PGTH comes within 4 days of rigorous training, auditioning and subsequent empowerment of three (3) selected winners with cash prizes summing up to Three Hundred Thousand Naira (₦ 300, 000.00) in categories of;
The organization was fully registered with CAC in January 2022 as a Non-governmental body aimed at solving a definite need. It is uncontested fact that over 62% of Nigerians live in extreme poverty with youths 35 years and under constituting about 70% of the population of Nigeria (Sahara Reporters). Christian youths constitute largely to this statistic. Many young people (22.9%) migrated from the rural to the urban areas like Lagos, Port Harcourt, and Abuja in search of jobs (National Bureau of Statistics, 2012). The lack thereof put the unemployment rate at 23.9% as of 2011 (CIA Factbook). Unfortunately, the TAROK NATION seems to supply the highest number of these immigrants as we can’t possibly imagine the number of Tarok youths scattered in these cities. Youths get restless all too easily and if left to their own devices are seen in ungoverned areas at odd times, which breed escalating cases of indiscipline, abuse, and crime.
Pneuma Gospel Talent Hunt is all about preparing the underprivileged youth to navigate through existing opportunities and creating new opportunities for them. If these young people are not allowed to improve their talent, they will be more likely to engage in unruly behavior and remain in poverty. We aim to help alleviate poverty through youth engagement and employment using performing arts as a tool. Our focus is on less privileged youths from ages 13 to 25. With our initiatives, young people discover that they don't have to be marginalized and they can still make something worthwhile of themselves despite their lack of influential connections and limited education.
The curriculum for Pneuma Gospel Talent Hunt has divided into five (5) main areas in the performing arts (i. MOVEMENT AND DANCE ii. DRAMA iii. WRITING iv. MUSIC and, v. POETRY) but for this debut edition, we will major in Music and capture the other areas subsequently.
