[PRESS RELEASE] 2020 TAROK CULTURAL CARNIVAL DEFERRED AS TAROK NATION MOURNS

The hugely popular and widely renowned end of year cultural extravaganza, the Annual Tarok Cultural Carnival will not take place this year.
A statement from Ntim O’Tarok Cultural Association (NOCA), organizer of the event, says the postponement of the 2020 Cultural Carnival is in deference to the fact that the Tarok Nation is in mourning.
The statement, signed by Tarok Global Cultural Ambassador and Former Minister of Youth & Sports Development, Barrister Solomon Selcap Dalung, Igbarman O'Taroh, says the development, though regrettable, is however necessary for the long term preservation of Tarok Culture.
" As one of the last surviving vestiges of the very essence of our culture, we recognize the significance of the Annual Taroh Cultural Carnival not only to Tarok Nation but indeed the whole of Plateau State. However, as custodians and promoters of Tarok Culture, we cannot engage in any cultural celebration at a time of mourning ".
The former Minister and Founder of the Tarok Cultural Carnival, appealed to all those who have over the years supported the organization of the Carnival in one way or another., for their understanding while looking forward to a bigger and better event in 2021.
"We realize how disappointing this may be to our Patrons, Tarok sons and daughters all over the world, our friends and neighbors etc. However, what are we if we cannot respect the very culture we seek to promote and preserve?"
The Annual Tarok Cultural Carnival, widely seen as the final bulwark for the preservation of Tarok Culture against the unrelenting onslaught of negative Western values, traditionally holds at the end of the year and has successfully held every year since it's inception 9 years ago.
Culture enthusiasts always flock to Langtang, Plateau State, to witness the vibrant and captivating cultural performances that highlight the Carnival Procession, to round off the year.
