In the passed, when slaves trade was ravaging many parts of Africa, Tarok land wasn't left out. there was a time, GAN capture a woman (Pregnant woman) and wanted selling her to the Hausa's who by then are the slave traders.

The woman was heavily pregnant and almost due for delivery and GAN gave a verdict, if the woman will give birth to a boy, the woman will be spare and taken back home. Both her and her son will be well cared for, but if it's a girl, both of them will be sold into slavery. This alone go a long way to tell you how a Tarok man reverence a male child but that will be a topic for another day.

On their way going to the slave market, near Kanjili river, the woman gave birth to a baby boy. Oh! her saviour has arrived!!! Gan kept to his promise and took her back home to be care for with the child. The baby was Name GANDULON, meaning he was to be sold.

Gandulon grew up to be a very brave man, it was say that his rise to prominence begin when he was out grazing goats with his peers around Kanjili river. It was from their he dive into the river and brought out the red guinea corn seed and some food for his mates. It's a popular believe among the Tarok people that the red guinea corn was first discovered by Gandulon. The news went around all Tarok villages and town and for the first time, a meeting of all Tarok clans was held! from that day, the unity of Tarok people have just begun.

Gandulon was made Ponzhi Nbin of the Ritak and Gan people but because the decision was solely taken by the Gan family without consulting with the Ritak's, they were revolting against it. Gandulon diplomatic approach to this problem further solidify his place as also a wise spiritual head whose ideology is built around peace! He immediately make out plans to have Ritak become independent and have their own worship moon but on a condition that their worship moon have to come before the Gan's. This innocent condition led to a saying that to this day it still stands, "Laktak pe ga Kumbwan" Because during their worship moon, it comes before harvest which means their will be shortage of food and drinks, and it's the same moon whence snakes bite rise to it peak hence the name calling, Laktak pe ga Kumbwan, meaning the moon is bad.

It isn't accident that their worship moon was so but because of their revolting act, Gandulon tries to make a stint out of it, he succeeded without them noticing.

As said earlier, Gandulon brought about the unity of Tarok people from his discovery of the red guinea corn seed, at the first meeting of all Tarok clans, the seed was shared among the Tarok clans each to take back and plant in their villages. From that day, if anything strange should happen, Gandulon will be permitted by the Gan family to summon such a meeting of all Tarok clans to discuss the matter.

When Gandulon had his own family, he was given a place by Gan to start raising his family, a practice still popular among the rural Tarok people. When a man come of age, he will be given a place to start or stand on his own, the place given to Gandulon was at the bottom of Tarok hill and hence his home was called "Ce" by other clans (meaning in a hole).

It's believe that Gandulon is the first Ponzhi Tarok but we will discuss this in our subsequent blog post.
