Culture is an umbrella term which encompasses the social behavior and norms found in human societies, as well as the knowledge, beliefs, arts, laws, customs, capabilities, and habits of the individuals in these groups.

Nigerian culture taught good morals and values, which abhor social vices prevalent in the country today. the confusion of which culture to follow has stagnated the country’s development efforts.

The foreign cultures have been identified as sources for negative social and cultural changes that occur in a destination especially on the young people. ... This influence bring about cultural change in the lives of many young people, which lead to cultural erosion as the young people turn to adopt foreign cultures. However Culture shock isn't caused by a specific event. It results from encountering different ways of doing things, being cut off from behavioral cues, having your own values brought into question, and feeling you don't know the rules.This impact includes the anxiety and feelings (such as surprise, disorientation, uncertainty, and confusion) felt when a person must adapt to a different and unknown cultural or social environment.

Similarly, giving room for:

Extreme homesickness.

Feelings of helplessness/dependency.

Disorientation and isolation.

Depression and sadness.

Hyper-irritability, may include inappropriate anger and hostility.

Sleep and eating disturbances (too little or too much)

Excessive critical reactions to host culture/stereotyping.
